Hello everybody!

I´´m looking a lens to my girlfriend, but I´m not very expert in photography. What are the best lenses? I´m looking for a 70-300 or similar. How are Cosina lenses? and Tamron?

Thanks in advance,

First, what kind of a price are you thinking about, for what kind of camera and which lenses does she already own.

Sigma 70-300 nice choice if you are looking for something not expensive, canon 50 mm 1.4 or 1.8 , always a must for those extra sharp shots. Some macro lens if that's her "game". and who wouldn't love 16-?.

It so much question about price, and what sort of lens. ( after some time she will have at least on lens of each sort :) )

I really like my Canon 75-300mm lens. It takes sharp, clear photos - and I've gotten some great stop action shots with it.

Both of these were taken with that lens. The only post-processing on both of them was resize and adjust levels. I use that one on most of my shots these days and I'm looking to get a 28-105 to use instead of my kit lens.

Not sure if this helps you... I really don't know anything about Cosina or Tamron, but I've heard raves about Sigma.

I found the best price on the 75-300 lens at B&H Photo.

The Canon 75-300 is definitely a lens to be considered. It takes 58mm filters, same as her 28-105, a nice convenience and potential money-saver.
It's not a very fast lens, so consider the image stabilized "IS" version, which is a great deal at about $400 US after rebate (needs to be bought this calendar year I think, so act fast).
Also, when buying watch that you are getting the USA warrantied version; note that B&H lists both USA and Imported. You will have hassles if you need warranty service on the imported lens, and you really don't save much.

My advice for all lense purchasers is to 1st consider the manufacturer of the camera. If that lense maker is within budget, then buy their lenses. They specifically provide the greatest lattitude and compatibility. If not in budget, then consider Sigma.....unless of course your body is a Sigma, whereas Sigma would then be your 1st choice.
