Hey..

just wanted to bring to you guys attension.. i had this pic of my girlfriend that i really liked.
i was asked to send proof.
which i did... but burned the part were she was naked.. just coz i didnt want some judge here on DPC will see her naked. its not the purpuse of the pic.

instead of that i was disqualified coz i didnt gave it from my camera.. which there the pic wasnt modest.

i thought the judge would understand..

its a big dissapointement for me... i thought a nude picture would treat differently...

if other judges can reply.. i would be greatful

p.s. it is a leagal photo. just dodge and burn...

p.s 2

im not pissed of.. just disspointed

Not a judge etc, but from what you say, you edited the orginal before submitting it for validation. It quite clearly states that the photo must be original as it came out of the camera.

You check a box saying you will supply your ORIGINAL unedited image if requested every time you enter. If you weren't willing to show the original, then you should have selected another image to upload. :/

Sorry about the DQ.

Wait wait wait... nobody is asking you to be a robot. I was just saying that the rules state you have to send an unedited original. If you sent something else, then you didn't follow the rules. It doesn't take a machine to follow the same rules that everyone else is expected to follow. Please don't take it personally, its just the way the site works.

? Why submit a nude photo to a public competition if you aren't comfortable submitting a nude photo?

By the way, the reason that it is requested without editing has to do with something called EXIF information. If you edit the image, it changes the EXIF and renders the image unverifiable. Which was the point of sending an original.

Could you perhaps have requested for the original to be viewed by a female SC member if you really felt that uncomfortable about it?

Then you could have sent a second image for them all to view... One SC member could view the original with EXIF.
What's SC got to say about that?

Did they communicate with you regarding the issue? More importantly, did you communicate with them? it seems to me that the ball is rather in your court on this one...

Is there a particular reason that you don't feel it's ok for people to be viewing your GF's nakedness? does she know about the pic being online? Maybe asking her feelings on the matter might also help move things in a particular direction, either allowing the original to SC or the other way and simply accepting the DQ as a sacrifice made for your GF. Surely that's worthwhile enough that the DQ becomes a non-issue?

For the record, what the "world" can see in your entry is more than we could see in the original. :) I, personally, would be more concerned about the entire world seeing it, with some edits to slightly obscure it than I would a panel of 14 who do have some accountability to eachother and the site.

Secondly, even if you had submitted the original without the burned booby (that hurts to type), you probably would have still been dq'ed because it appears you introduced a new element (the sunbeams) into the shot, rather than just enhancing what is already there.

If you can't submit your original, for whatever reason, please do not check that box, and please choose another shot. It is what we can do to insure that everyone follows the rules and it is fair for everyone.

When asked to validate a challenge entry by sending the original, you have a choice. If you send it, your entry is validated. If you choose not to due to content, then you will be DQ'd. There is nothing robotic about it. Cindi was exactly right in her post about the rules, they apply to all of us and we all have to make the same choices as you and I don't think you can call us robots. Just mark it down to experience.

Note: I doubt the SC would be shocked to see a boob. They just use the original to check your editing, then that's an end to it.

In the end you've got a smoking hot girlfriend to cheer you up over the DQ. Life could be worse ;)

As Karmat said, you would have been DQ'd anyway for adding the sunbeams. As far as the nude goes, hey, we have to validate nudes all the time. The originals are not made public and never used for any purpose other than validation (I've been in the same situation with a photo of my wife). We cannot validate an altered file for any reason because once it's beeen changed, we have no way of knowing if anything else was done. For example, you could have sent a "censored" version with the added sunbeams and claimed that all you did was black out an area for privacy. We just can't run the contest like that.

Now that is indeed the best way to look at it.

Obviously you should stay away from nude photography. It doesn't seem to be something you can handle.

Allow me to ease your pain even more. Let us suppose I take an outstanding shot with reliable witness about me. Then after I prepared my image I noticed that the time on my camera was wrong and would technically throw it outside the challenge time. You see, under no circumstance can I submit this image because even though I took it within the challenge time frame, the file can not verify its validation. I have a witness, but that is not enough to satisfy. It is my responsibility to ascertain that the image is verifiable. Supose the image is the New Years turn over as the clock is ticking: the evidence is there but stupid me, I am unable to make sure that my camera's time is correct. You see, there are no exceptions when you decide to compete because the rules dominate, otherwise there would be no uniformity. Why should some be required to check their camera time and others not.

Now, lets, say, as in your case, that I have a good file. Well, the original is all and everything in competition. There is no way that I would even consider altering the original image. Once I do that the image can not stand validation of its contents.

I understand your point and it is okay to change a part of the image within the rules but we never touch the original. Once you do you have rendered your entry null and void. The s/c is not set up to partake of the qualities of an image but rather to validate their integrity. You alter the original and you Lost!
