Get to know each other :)

Here's the idea (garnered from this thread:

Post the name of ONE photographer on this site that you admire and tell why. Then PM that photographer with a link to this thread so they can see what you have written. Don't double post now, you have to live with your first decision :)

Perhaps some will learn what is really in our heads and why we like particular photographs or a particular photographic style.

I'll go first :D

idnic

I admire Cindi because I always see her helping other people with her spare time (dunno HOW that woman has SPARE time) and because her photography is inspiring to me. I am always learning ways to become a better portrait photographer from browsing her portfolio and reading threads she has either A.) Started or B.) Participated in.

Oh, and her comments are ALWAYS helpful :)

I really admire jackal9 because he takes the time to peruse your portfolio, make encouraging AND constructive comments (he's a two for oner if you will ;) ). He makes himself accessible, he's friendly and takes some amazing photos. Who could ask for more?

I’ll play…

The person on DPC that inspires me would be Judi. She is so passionate about everything she does in photography. She works hard and produces fantastic images. She has many styles and all done so well. She has the best personality. She is a wonderful teacher on how she does what she does. If I could meet one person on DPC it would be her; and I am more than honored she is on my team and that I can call her a friend. So here’s to you Judi…you are one of a kind, and it’s all good!!

Oh…and The Untouchables Rule!!

What a great idea, Johanna and thank you sincerely for your kind words!

Its hard to pick just one person I admire at DPC, but for startters I'll say that I really admire Ursula. She has the patience of a saint when the freaks & geeks start disrupting the place; she's a phenomenal photographer who's style I have admired since day one; AND she has an absolutely eeeeeevil sense of humor that just keeps me in stitches. Here's to you, Ursula! :)

I admire SandyP. She is the friendliest DPCer I've run across (just look at her profile pic...she even looks friendly). She is always willing to encourage others, gives wonderful and helpful comments and critiques, and she's from Texas. Plus she takes nice pictures :P

Mine would be Pedro. He has always be more than willing to help me out when I've had questions about my pictures or how he did his. That truly means a lot to me considering he doesn't even know me.

He also leaves good comments about my wife which goes a long way in getting her to pose for me in future challenges!

She's already been picked in a few short posts but I'm going to say Ursula as well. I have always loved Ursula's work - the way she uses color; her attention to small, delicate things; the way her photos all seem to contain a small dose of magic. But working with Ursula on the SC, I've gotten to know her as a person and she's just wonderful. She is kind and nice and willing and eager to see the good in everyone and everything. She spends a great deal of time thinking about art and the purpose of art and an artist's place and has got me thinking about all that in ways I never would have considered and she's been encouraging to me in ways I suspect she doesn't even realize. A horrendously cheesy sentiment but she's really the kind of person that, having been around, makes you want to be a better person.

Now I'd better go break stuff or somethin'.

(p.s. to the rest of my pals, I love you all, too! Well, most of you.)

Oooooo thats a hard one, there are so many photographers on this site that I admire and for a whole range of different reasons, from their outstanding photographic ability to their generosity in providing help to there sense of humour and love of life...However after much deliberation I am going to have to be another one to say SandyP

She takes some of the most beautiful photographs that I have ever seen over a wide range of subjects and is consistantly both encouraging and also constructively critical as with many people on DPC she is one of lifes good eggs

Oh, this is fun! Of course there are many amazing people here - both as people and as photographers. (Are photographers people?) Anyway, I just finished the 30 Day Black and White challenge with bucket, and I am in complete awe of his work. It's like the guy lives inside my head. Beautiful, innovative, creative, artistic, soulful photography. Here's to you bucket!

I want to give honorable mention to my inspired and most wonderful friend roz. She knows (hopefully) that I think she rocks, so I wanted to sing the praises of someone I don't know personally.

Thank you, much appreciated!

As for someone I admire, hmmmm.... the person that comes to mind is muckpond. He's really creative, and I love the way he doesn't use capitals. He gets all angry and flustered, but he's so very right just about always. He is a kind and generous person, and fun too. And he likes kids and kids and little animals like him - how can you go wrong with that? He's very loyal to his friends. And he makes really cool pictures like this one:

and this one

I just like him.

There are so many that I could name but if I had to pick one from that I would have to say Art Roflmao. He's just so damn funny and he's really a good guy to have on your side. His photography is very creative and just way out there. Ken's the guy that if you wanted to know how to do something all you have to do is ask him.

Thanks Ken...

I choose bdenny..I think he can see the humor in pictures that are intended to be funny. He leaves nice, constructive comments (haven't seen rude). Anytime I leave a comment on his pictures asking a question, he responds by PM. This shows me that he acknowledges & appreciates all comments. He has received 400 comments & marked 395 helpful. I have recently started to participate in the forums & he seems very nice & friendly. I think he takes risks with his photography & this is a great thing. I think he is a great example of a DPC member..I appreciate you.

I would have to say DrAchoo... consistently a solid photographer who produces beautifully colorful images and excellent imagination to work with his surroundings to make the "extra"ordinary.

Right now getting to watch De Sousa behind the scenes is a thing of beauty. First, he's a hobbyist which makes his ability all the more astounding. Second, his shots are incredibly creative and done with technical perfection. The man didn't even want to enter his last two blue ribbons because they weren't up to snuff for him.

I really admire that.

posthumous
the way a crow
shook down on me
the dust of snow
from a hemlock tree

has given my heart
a change of mood
and saved some part
of a day i had rued.

(Robert Frost)

definitely not in a cold way (i just love this poem and the refreshing snow assosiation), but surely as vitalizing as snow,
Don's comments and support have saved so many parts of my days already.
thank you so very much Don!

All my Kudos for posthumous.
Because of his vision and the way he stays against the flow is worth all my support and admiration.
Thank you Don and keep on showing us the other side of the moon.
The most beautiful things I’ve been seeing, live there.

I like gsal for his unassuming character. Despite being an expert photographer, there's simply no hubris of any kind evident in any of his posts, descriptions, comments, or photographs. He's as comfortable shooting stunning journalistic shots of African tribal people as he is with taking pictures of his sons, and indeed he switches easily between such shots - even though kid pictures can be anathema here. I guess what I admire most is his sense of satisfaction with his own photography, which he communicates with every picture he takes, and with no need for self-aggrandizement. That's cool, a lesson for people like me. And sorry but I'm not PMing him, I'm too embarassed. :P

I'm flabbergasted! I'm (almost) speechless! Thank you soooo much!

Well, when I think of who I not just admire but cherish, the person most on my mind lately is Melethia. Just the thought of her being offline at some hazy point in the near future is scarifying. Not only is she a wonderful open-minded photographer, she has a big heart and is one of the rare examples of thoughtful courtesy to be found in this site's culture of I-Me-Mine (a much better example than ME-ME-ME).

I have a couple, but today I'd like to mention how much I admire boysetsfire.

He has such an astonishing unique style which he sticks by, even when I'm guessing he probably knows it won't always bring in the big votes.

He is also from my home city and I am always blown away by how AMAZING he makes it look and his quirky and unique vision of Melbourne (and other places he visits.)

I SO look forward to seeing what he uploads and guessing which entry in challenges is his!

WOW!! Awesome!! Thank you very much!!

As for me, there are so many people on here that have helped me I can't begin to list them all, My fellow TS'ers, fellow Motley Crew'ers and many more, thanks all!!!

But that wasn't really the question huh? Who do I admire, I would have to say of all the people on this site which inspire me to continue to take photos and show me that it's all for fun, I would have to pick Beautiful-Joe, Joe Lavalle a 15 year old new to the site and the hobby (obsession? lol) with the most amazing attitude of anyone I have met in a long time, he's always upbeat no matter what his score is, no matter whether someone gave him a negative comment and looks at every photo and the comments he receives as a way to become better at his craft. I truly admire his drive and way of looking at this site as we all should, a fun, learning experience. I think we could all learn a thing or two from Joe, with his attitude and mind set I have no doubt he will go far!!

i'd like to post names, but then it would be too long.
you know who you are (i hope!)

Tlemetry She knows why, but for the rest of you - T has been so kind and patient with me - almost nightly - as she holds my hand through processing steps as well as pats me on the back for a job well done. Her shots are awesome and she is quick to share ideas, how-to's and the like. We are, for the most part, strangers - brought together by league play and oddly I feel a friendship with her. Ofcourse, I am still upset over the post-it usage our correspondance has caused... ;)

only one?!? it's not easy then!

First one that come in mind is goodman because the intensity of her portraits and africa's views hit me deeply.

And I cannot avoid to mention silverfoxx for her creativity and poetic... eye!

Please, can we do it again with more mention options?
There're so many wonderful photographers often not recognised with challenge's awards but as I can read here well appreciated.
