I am not going to say who or what! But there is one image amongst the images in one of the four contests being voted on now, that was repeated in an earlier contest this year and won a ribbon. The two images are almost identical in composition except for the change of times.

I will give 5 bucks for the first person to find it.

Would I be breaking any rules in identifying the picture in the forums?

If not....I could use 5 bucks.

Send me a private message 5 minutes before that voting closes with the right photo. And I will owe you 5

I could not find it. Is this a conspiracy about cheating? Or just somebody who took a new shot of the same shot to try and rack up the ribbons?

No cheating, No conspiracy. All genuine, just someone who chose to photograph the same composition twice.

plus, You need to have a photographic memory to find it; there are 1534 photos being voted on now and more than 600 winning photos this year. So if you can not just remember the photo the second you see its match, you efforts searching will prove futile.

I don't see anything wrong with reshooting something.

I've gone back and reshot things that I've done in the past just to see if I could improve upon it...

I guess you could not detect my sarcasm and the fact you made the assumption that I didn't understand and needed clarifying is arrogant.

As well the ";-)" maybe meant in jest that I copied the image myself.

Not trying to be mean just honest.

Actually its extremely close if not identical in COMPOSITION. Of course the photo's are each very different in many other ways but composition alone they are very close. There's nothing wrong with that at all but it is interesting. Hey when you find a good spot redo it until it runs its course and doesn't work for you anymore right?

I've submitted two photos of the same subject, and from the same vantage point. I post-processed the second one differently so that it wouldn't be too easily recogizable since the challenges were only about eight weeks apart. I even used another lens.

I shot it the second time to see if it would do better. It did. The first challenge I received a 5.8380. The second time it went up to 6.2400.

First time (Image Grain II challenge)...

Second time (Vanishing Point II challenge)...

Yes, and Nuzzer won another ribbon with it, too! Interesting find, though I don't think it's fair to point it out during the voting. On the other hand, you are probably right -- there are so many photos, the chances of someone else finding it are slim. I would ask if you gave it a low vote because of this, but then I see you give most everyone a low vote! LOL

User Bod ribboned twice in a similar manner:

I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I could go duplicate my ribbon winners, but that accomplishes absolutely nothing...both personally and for the site on the whole.

You learn two things. That people think it is a nice view and that you can score high with that particular shot. There are some characters on DPC who do repeat shots for a living and everytime it blows my mind what inspires (or lack of) them to do it.

I would agree with you.

I did not vote on this. But I would give him three extra points for being so smart, the problem is I found and realized it the second I saw it, so I am not sure I would have awarded the extra; but I would give it a 5, there is no clear distinction of the contest subject in my opinion.
I am talking about this :
