...since the Canadian $ is going to be at par with the US$ before year's end.

Get those B & H orders ready! :D

Whoo-hoo!!!!

Oh, and when that happens I want the prices of books here to be the same as the US prices.....does that tick anyone else off? Books that have 2 prices on the inside jacket, a much higher price for us in Canada.

No, the currency is called the dollar. Slang for the $1 coin is the loonie, slang for the $2 coin is the twoonie.

I lobbied hard for "dubloon" when the two dollar coin came out. Frikken cutesy-tootsie Canadians.

Twoonie: pronounced "toonie", just in case you tried to pronounce the "w"

o, yeah, and the loonie is so called because it has a loon (waterbird found all over north amaerica, but especially in canada, with a haunting call, and an eerie cackle) on its back.

We have loons on the lake in Vermont where my wife's family has a cottage. Everyone gets very excited to see them every summer. Time to buy a 600mm zoom. :)

...plus... Canadians could speak like Pirates when we buy or sell stuff with dubloons. With toonies Canadians are like a bunch of nancy-boys, prancing around in tights and flinging flower petals here and there. Not that I have anything against nancy-boys, and damnit, I like the feel of tights, but come on...

Hey now..keep my tights out of it! or as the British would say "don't get your knickers in a knot!"

The best thing is that some of our tights come with capes! Let's all remember that Superman is a Canadian.

One of my favorite Canadian coins is this one...

Sure wish I had a big bag full of them.

Really? The actor, right? Which one then? Surely the character isn't Canadian...wouldn't he be...kryptonian or something like that?

No, No... It's 'Don't get your knickers in a Twist'... I think 'Knickers in a Knot' is Australian.

The kid who played young superman in the first movie (who lifted the car) is from Calgary. I haven't seen him in years, but somewhere I still have a little metal trash can with him on it.

You are right Superman was created by a Canadian. The Canadian gov used to air Canadian history commercials and that was one of them.
