Let me start by saying I'm not pointing a finger at anyone, because I rarely look at a members stats and if I do, I don't really care about them. But let's ask ourselves:

Complaining about "unjustified" low votes, without comments? Do you comment all of your < 3 votes? Be honest.

Ever given a low(er) score because you don't like the subject? That's getting way too much attention.

Feel that DPC is losing its learning site appeal? Have you written a tutorial or volunteered on the critique club?

I could keep asking questions, but really, if you have a complaint, is there anything YOU can do to help the situation? Do we have to "mandate" everyone do something?

Just food for thought.

I actually have never done this, IMO if it's a well taken photograph, technically, and creatively, then what it's a photograph of really doesn't matter to me. I have in fact given rather high votes to subjects I'm not overly fond of, but were well done.... but I do admit that I don't comment as much as I probably should.

FF, you are right to remind us to complain less and do more... it's a fine rant. BUT (Everybody's got a big 'but'), surely there is room for some acknowledgement of our emotional reaction to a photo. So while I may grit my teeth at people who give a nude an automatic "1", I reserve the right to be bored by certain subjects and therefore possibly score them a little lower (unless, of course, they REALLY overcome the cliché, or really wow technically).

I think not voting at all would be very justifiable.

I pay $25 for my membership, $25 for my wife's membership, $whatever the fee is for the 1GB storage, $whatever random gift memberships I give on fandangos...

... now the fotomann_forever group is going to mandate I use my precious time to do something other than pick my nose?

Now if someone would just hit my entry with a comment.... :-)

Actually, I have three so far and I'm very happy with them. No complaints here at all. And if we've had a nude male challenge, I musta missed it. Can someone provide a link? ;)
