My 20D body has been sent away for repairs, and so I am all that more itchy to get my hands on a Mark III. Normally I deal with B&H but they are a bit backlogged shall we say. Anyone know of a where I might be able to get one sooner? I am from Canada so has to ship up here. (It is surprising how many don't)

Canon just barely started shipping at the end of last week. I expect *everyone* is backlogged.

USA and Europe didn't seem to think that Canada exists

yep $5,699.99 Canadian so equals $5,243.99 US... well over 600.00 US above the "going" rate. Sigh.... Plus a wait list... 600.00 is half a len! Well good hunting anyone find anything else?

Hey, my Corolla is in the shop. Anybody got a line on a Porsche I can pick up ASAP?

LMAO Ill call Len Stoler Porsche there only a few miles out and get a dealer transfer on it.

We do have a Ferrari on the lot, low miles.

I know better than this, your too cheap thrifty to pay someone to repair your car without posting a thread about how your getting ripped off. :-)

LOL! I resemble that remark. You know I got my brakes replaced on the Subaru a few weeks ago and I didn't post a thing. :)

Ill do your brakes next time, all i stock is kevlar pads though and it means upgrading the rotors.

So what did the 20D break?

Mirror flips up as soon as there is power. Sounds really weird like constantly taking shots, there is a firmware upgrade that might fix the problem but it it doesn't even get there before error 99 show up. The local canon retailers hadn't ever seen a problem like it. :(

Four to eight WEEKS before I get it back

As someone here once said ERR stands for Expensive Repairs Required.

Do a quick search here, or Fred Miranda, or sports shooter. Thats a common problem for the 20D usually entails a failed shutter and will get a new one. There was just a thread here recently about this. four to eight weeks seems a tad long but hey maybe they are busy.

Part of the delay is that I am in the middle of nowhere and shipping take a while. I am just twitch already without my 20D, I do still have a back up 10D but but I miss all my newer features. (Oh and i had forced open the piggy bank already to budget for the Mark III, that is why I was still using a 20D waiting for the right camera to come along. Mark III has my whole wish list)

I can bet you there is a Porsche dealership within 100 air miles of your location. If you're not real picky about which Porsche you want, I suspect you can have one tomorrow.

'Urro,

I thought they were still to ship the MkIII? We normally get new Canon product before the US/ Canada down here, and Canon NZ don't expect them for a few weeks yet..

Possibly I'm wrong, but that was the impression I got.

Cheers, Me.

Try Leo's Camera in Vancouver. New Canon products appear to be shipped to Canada before being available south of the border.

According to this thread, Hifi already has one and she's from Australia!

Ambo, also from Australia, has already added his name to the list of owners of the Mark III.

By the way, someone mentioned error 99, that showed up on my Rebel that I gave to my girlfriend, I thought it was something wrong with her, but I found out you just take an eraser to the gold contacts between the lens and the camera (both sides) and the error goes away for good (at least for now).

Speaking of breaking, I dropped my 30D and I am sending it in for repairs, but as a panic before a wedding, I bought the 5D. I figured I already have the crop and the speed with the 30D, might as well get the full frame sensor and many many pixels with the 5D. i love it so far.

The 30D plus the 5D make a *great* combo for weddings. I have a pair of 20Ds and the 5D that I use and I love the flexibility that I have by having them "at the ready" with lenses and everything. Just pick up and go.

I had mine on order since first week of April. When I picked mine up last week was told that only 100 had landed in Australia. The shop where I purchased mine from had 12 confirmed orders, but luckily I was the first to pay a deposit. That meant that when only one arrived in the shop, it was mine. Supposedly, most of the 100 were going to newspaper outlets for their staff photographers and only a few were going to shops. I was also told that if I were to walk into the shop and order one now I would be looking at November before I could expect delivery.
