Looking at the number we know that it could not of been less than 225 and it could not have been more than 1114. That is using a 100% and 20% respectively out of the 2934 members. Stats would suggest around 333 members voted somewhere between 20% and 100%.

Some late night stats that really don’t mean anything except that the formula will be close to the real number of voters that voted. Not counting the ones that had their votes cast out for voting below 20%.

margin of error: +/- 3%
langdon can you tell us how many voted to see how close the formula is?

i just think it funny that there was 550+ entries but i only had 200 some odd votes...you would think at least the ones who entered would have been nice enough to vote on the others....

I entered and didn't vote. I try not to vote in a challenge in which I have entered b/c of conflict of interest and bias.

I voted but didn't enter and only managed to make it through about 60% of the shots.

I voted 546 out of 554 at 99% of the challenge.

I voted all except my teammates' entries and one other.

One would think if the site is growing that more votes would be cast on average with each passing challenge but it doesn't seem like that's happening at all.

I voted on 555 (2 had not been DQ'd yet). What amazes me is the low number of views.

You'd think that everyone who entered would at least look at the other images. :o\ I guess it's tough when there's so many images in the current voting stage...

I got through them all except for mine and my wifes!

Voted on all (or all that I could vote on) - and if I vote in a challenge (which I almost alway do) I always vote on all entries.

Not me. Not voted for a while now. Just too much going on at the moment!

05/28/2007 08:41:20 AM · #15
I voted on all of them. Didn't have an entry.
05/28/2007 08:46:16 AM · #16
I voted on everyone. I never vote less than 100% on a challenge. Even tho I entered, I wouldn't dream of voting down anyone just because I had entered. I think I can recognise my limitations, but also appreciate the effort others have put in to their entries. If I felt that my votes were biased, I wouldn't bother voting ever again.

I voted...took me a couple days but I got through them all.

More importantly, did anyone else have a huge score drop at rollover? I went to bed a half hour before the roll. My score was 6.0887 at 249 votes. After the final scrub....243 votes and a 6.0329! That seems like quite a drop. That's an average of 8.3333 for tose 6 votes.

Sounds like a last minute strategy to prevent retalation.

I struggled to get over 20%. I had a good size drop at rollover.

No, it sounds normal. I've seen shots climb or drop as much as 0.05 on a pretty routine basis. That's just the effect of the vote scrubber, which removes anyone who doesn't vote at least 20%.

How would someone retaliate, anyway? Go vote every shot lower? Folks, how about we dial back the conspiracy theories just a bit?

Oh, I wasn't looking at any conspiracy. I just thought it seemed like an inordinate drop. Maybe I just don't normally stay up that late.

Not you, Larry. You merely noted the drop; you didn't ascribe any reason for it.

If I vote at all in any challenge, I make it a point to vote on 100% of the images ... doesn't matter to me if I entered or not ... I enjoy voting ... I learn a lot from looking at other images, good or bad ... I find things that really work and that I'd like to remember to try someday ...

I also make it a point to TRY and comment as much as possible ... being an 'average' scorer myself, I realize the need for comments for the photographers in the same boat ... it's usually either the fantastic image or the poor image that receives the most comments around here

O.k. I'll come clean, I usually finish my voting Sunday evening, for challenges that go off Sunday, I had gotten through 13%, but something had come up, and I wasn't home, and didn't return until after midnight. I did actually think Oh ShXt!!! People are gonna lose votes! But Hey, atleast I thought about you guys.
