Is there any already available thread/tutorial on how to frame a pic..?
If not, can anybody please help , I have Photoshop 5 , is it possible to do frames there..and how to change colour/thickness of the frame margines?
I am asking this because I have seen that proper framing means a definite increase in scores!

I thought you meant 'framing' as in to frame in a frame behind glass with mattes, etc. I can help with that but not borders as I rarely ever use them.

FWIW, most frames probably do not positively impact scores. Many detract. The best frame is a very simple one, either one or two basic solid-color bands. Bear in mind that they need to work with the "default frame" on DPC images which is a thin black border.
That said, there are two ways to make a frame. You can use either one or a combination of them. There are other ways as well, but these are two easy ones:
1.) Select the frame color you wish to add as the foreground color, then increase the canvas size using the foreground color.
2.) Select the entire image, then Edit>Stroke and select the color and width to stroke (be sure to choose "inside" option to make the stroke on the inside of the selection. You can also feather the stroke if desired.
