If i may ask you a question im 23, just starting out professional hopefully some can help?

I was requested today (about 40 min ago) to take a family of about 12-14 outdoors Towmarrow, posing isnt a problem.

The Problem Is what is the best way using what I have to eliminate the harsh shadows on there faces. or how should i place them sun towards them behind them, or put them in the best shade possible?

(My Guess would be the Shade)

My equipment goes as follows

Olympus E-500
Zuiko 14-45mm 3.5-5.6 /W Tiffen UV Protector
Zuiko 40-150mm 3.5-4.5 /W Tiffen UV Protector
1 Targus Circular Polarizer Filter
Promaster 5750DX Digital Flash
1gig XD, 2 512 CF, 4 128 CF (I Know That Prob Doesnt Matter)
Promaster PRO1 Tripod Using A Manfrotto 322RC2 Head (I Know That Prob Doesnt Matter Either)
42in 5 'N 1 Reflector Silver/White, Gold/Zebra gold, Translucent
22in Silver Reflector (Homemade Using Satin and wooden hoop)
22in Gold Reflector (Homemade Using Satin and wooden hoop)

Way too many vaiables in where you are, the angle of the sun, clouds, trees, shadows etc etc to really tell you. Don't make the mistake of having the sun in their face so they have their eyes closed of squint. If I'm doing a wedding or people type shoot outside ot in I almost always use a flash. Sounds like you need to have a shady area and use a fill flash. When the sun is glowing off their hair it looks far better than closed eyes. Best of luck!

I would try to get them in the shade if possible and then use fill flash. A combo of bright background and fill-flashed foreground can give quite a pop. Also, if ya have any assistants, using the reflectors would be a good idea.

The biggest thing is to not have them facing into the sun.
