My video camcorder has recently broke down. I am considering to buy a new digital camera with video recording capabilities. I have tried Nikon Coolpix 7900. The video quality is nice (not too compressed, 512MB 7 min at 640x480 30fps), but the sound quality is very poor. I would like more video compression and better sound quality, and of course a decent price, less than 200 euros :-). There are cheap solutions with MPEG4 video but without optical zoom.
Any suggestion will be welcome |

for stereo sound in the video, the Canon S5 IS comes to mind
for better video quality, the Canon TX1 comes to mind (which resembles a videocam more than a still cam actually!) It takes 1280 x 720 (at 30 fps).
