So the other day i found my dads old '84 ish nikon slr with a tokina lens. the lens is a RMC 24mm/f2.8 mf and i got really excited because i thought i could use it. I was still waiting for my d200, but i wanted to test out the lens, so i put it on my friends d50. I put the lens on and everything was fine, it was working and everything was normal, using manual focus and guessing for the metering. then i start playing with his other lenses (digital lenses) and out of nowhere, the lcd readout in the viewfinder goes crazy. it just started showing gibberish. a couple days later, the lcd was fine, but then later that day, it went back to gibberish. we've tried everything and im not sure whats wrong.

so my main question is of course, whats wrong w/ my friends camera? and do you think the lens has anything to do with it? im scared to put it on my d200 now.

the weirdest part is sometimes the lcd readout is fine, and then the next minute it'll be junk.

ps. he had a refurb d50 and warranty expired
