So what's the verdict on these cheap radio Pocket Wizard wannabes?
eBay Link

I've heard they are hit or miss.
More trouble w/ Canon flashes and pretty good results w/ Nikon.
Anyone use these?

I've got a set (not exactly the same) and they seem to work just fine for me. I use them with a Canon 350d and 2x Nikon SB26s.

I've read there are issues with canon flashes but I've also read theres a V2 version which works better with canon's flashes.

Here

thanks.
I know that they won't compete w/ pocket wizards but is nice to know they work for normal use.

I also have a set of eBay triggers -- it looks like the exact same transmitter, but a different receiver (I expect it is the same electronics inside). I ended up buying a second receiver for my second flash.

They work pretty well -- I recommend the transmitter extension at Instructables:
//www.instructables.com/id/SSSZSXRVP3EYSYUOLA/

They can be a bit flaky though. I've got near 100% reliability with my Sunpak 383, but my Nikon SB-20 worked initially, but a few nights ago, it did two flashes then stopped. I have it on an e-bay 1/8" to hot shoe adapter -- the Sunpak worked fine if I stuck it on the hotshoe, but the SB-20 would pop when I plugged in the 1/8" cable but then no flash on the trigger. The SB-20 worked fine on camera. I haven't had a chance to debug it (many times the batteries are to blame).

If you are a pro who needs to depend on your equipment, you might want to spend more. If you are a hobbiest, the eBay triggers are great.

Anyone know how/if this works with canon flashes? 430ex and 580ex (mark II i suppose since mk I doesn't have a synch plug i think?)
actually come to think of it, does 430ex have a synch plug?

for canon flashes, there seems to be many reports that thye are not consistent. But it seems V2 works much better. (link in my first post).

The version that rswank posted i believe also trigger the flash via hotshoe as do the new V2 ones so they would be OK for a canon I guess.

The ones I bought (1 transmitter and 1 receiver but I bought an additional receiver) came with a 1/8" phono cable attachment and a pc cable socket, but I opened it up, whipped off the phono and an soldered half a PC cable direct to the PCB!!

For Canon flashes you will need to buy a hot shoe to pc adapter

I got them too.

Two recievers that I use two Nikon FLashes with.
Got the Nikons on Ebay, an SB24 and an SB 25or26? The nikons are good 'cos of the great manual controls on them, plus they also work on the canon in manual or auto mode - TTL obviously is a no-no.

I have not had the triggers fail to fire, though they do pop randomly now and again, especially if close to something like a washing machine or TV that might emit some RF interference.

For the money, they are well worth it, especially if you already have some compatible flashes.

Well actually i just looked at this product again, and it doesn't seem to use sync plug, so this should work with canon flashes..

you can obviously see that the reciever latches onto the hotshoe, and doens't plug into the sync plug..

i want. :p

edit:

pic of the reciever:

they even specificly say:

The new version eliminate the misfiring problem particularly occurs to Canon SpeedLite 580EX and 430EX. The overall performance is more reliable as well.
