I am just wondering, as photography enthusiasts, we travel ard looking for special places, events, incidents, or jus hide away in our studio to take hundreds of pictures of a single apple for the whole day.

At the end of the day, if we do sit down and rest at home and look out that window/door of ur apartment or house, what is the immediate view that is presented to you? what kinda environment are U living in??

for a start this is wat I see along my corridor.

This is a very laudable quest.

Photography doesn't always need to be about capturing ideal moments from ideal landscapes. It can concern itself with how we see our own reality, our own existence. Photography can present our reality in visual terms so we can deal with it accordingly.

McLaren, your photo is very inspiring. Thank you.

Colin, I love this photograph. I'm amused at the comments suggesting more or less exposure- just goes to show it's all subjective.

In the 5 months that I've been really interested in photography, I've realized what a challenge it is to take "beautiful" photographs where I live- Atlanta. My immediate surroundings are rows of cars, acres of asphalt, tons of powerlines, and lots and lots of commercial signage. I'm tempted to photograph these things as they are to put together some sort of photographic essay, but somehow I doubt anyone would be interested in looking at it- least of all me!

The nice thing is the three acres of tall forest I look at from my back balcony. It's literally a wall of trees, so it's not much of a subject for a photo, but it's a wonderful change from the urban city views out my front windows. I'll try to capture and post both tonight.

Kudos on thread idea. While not going outside, sitting at my computer I have a nice view outside. The glass in the window is old, hence the 'hazing' around it. I thought this added to it however.

Not even comparable to the opening shot on this thread (beautiful pic btw), but I thought I would share a little.

It was also interesting to see different adjustments made, and the effects on this picture, just to play around and be creative.

This is where I work. Its a 1.5 mile test track with banked curves. We evaluate vehicle driveability on it and try to find concerns that might become customer problems. The track itself isn't too exciting, but I get ample opportunities to take pictures of deer, coyotes, hawks, egrets, herons, skunks, and assortment of other critters. The area all around us is being developed and it seems alot of the animals are moving into my back forty.

Smitty, how do you get these images up without them showing up in your portfolio? Yet they are listed like a normal page when you click on them.

I am interested, because like this thread, often these threads ask for something which I would post, but wouldn't want in my portfolio, even temporarily. The reason is that when someone visits your "name", the portfolio only shows 5 or so "recent" images listed, and when someone visits, I want to show my real portfolio images (gee, maybe someone might even leave a comment ;))

Thanks in advance....

This is the view looking down our driveway - our little "pot o' gold" at the end of the rainbow.

I live in the sticks! This is the view outside my office at home.

(Hope I got this "code" thing right!)
OK, sooner or later, I'll get it!

Put them in your workshop folder, it's invisible when others look at your portfolio

Spaz answered it for me. Workshop folder, and just grab the images ID number from the URL..

Thanks Spazmo and Smitty. I didn't know what that folder was for (actually, I don't even think I noticed it before!) That's perfect.
