I went to botanical gardens to shoot some friends. I never used it before ever. I didnt know whether to bang the rod or stick it in the ground for the power to come on. I tried to remember the instructions instead of taking them with me... Dumb move on my part.

The metal rod is just a grounding rod.
You connect the (i think its) green wire to it and screw or push it into the ground.

you can still run the unit without it being grounded...you dont have to do that for the power to come on.

I thought I was going to get a story about someone being attacked while photographing the homeless. Oh well.

i just used mine the other night I put the screw into the ground about half way and clamped the green wire to it. No one got zapped so it must have been alright.
