I made a little instructable about how to make a string tripod. Check it out HERE let me know what you think.

"This is an old photographers trick - here is my design. Sometimes referred to as a string tripod or string bipod or string monopod. Also known as a chain tripod, bipod, etc... This device is used to stabilize a camera in order to get clearer pictures at a slow shutter speed. With more and more digital cameras coming out with vibration reduction or image stabilization systems, the string tripod has a new life."

You step on the string on the ground and pull up -- this has the effect of providing considerable stability to the whole system.

A dog leash works well; clips on the eyebolt and has a loop at the other end.

Maybe the shoulder strap from the camera bag could work the similarly ...

We use to use something similar to 'solidify' our tripods when working in wind or soft sand. Not sure you would have anything to screw the eyebolt into using yours, but you could simply tie it around the camera base of the tripod, dangle the 'string' down the center and put your foot on/into it and thereby hold your Tripod solidly in place. This works great where there is a great wind vibrating the camera, or when using a shutter release cable.

Just putting my 2 cents in here.

Nice bit of inventing!!

That is a great idea. My tripod has a little clip on the center pole. I guess I could tie a cord there.

I also like the other ideas posted for using things other than string. Keep the ideas coming!

Hmm, guess it would be a quadpod.
