at the Royal Easter Show for this image

A friend of mine has been entering his watercolours for a few years now and has always done well in that he has had some sales, so he encouraged me to enter in the photographic section.

He warned me that just entering does not mean they will be exhibited and that it is an honour just to be hung. Therefore I was really chuffed to find that both my entries were on exhibit and one even recieved an HC ribbon (which I think is like 4th place).

If you are going to the show the Art exhibits are in Hall 3. For those outside NSW the Royal Easter Show is like a state fair with usually in excess of a million people going through the gates over the 2 week period.

BTW the above image was in the open section and the other entry was in the Rural section.

The main reason for this post is to offer encouragement to those who feel their images do not do well here, as neither of these did well when entered in the challenges. Now I'm the 1st to admit the competition here is a lot stiffer than at the show, but it is still nice to recieve some positive feedback.

Nice work on both of those. Congratulations! I'm always startled by my success in shows, so I know how that goes. :-)

Thanks Rebecca. What kind of shows have you exhibited at?

congrats Michael, I was going to submit something to the show but never got around to it.

That is fantastic news for you as like you said it is a HUGELY popular show for Sydney :)

Nice one, a most excellent image and worthy of a ribbon.

Just local juried stuff. Nothing huge like national contests.

Michael will look out for this when I'm there tomorrow
I have picked up an entry form before but never entered
now that you have set the bar I suppose I should get off my arse and try to take a decent shot for next year

I entered one of my photos in a photo competition in the next shire to me. I drove 1 1/2 hours to delver the photos and have just found out that I won the landscape section. I am pleased as punch. I also took over a couple of photos for my friends daughter as she has so much potential and she won the junior section. So we are both very happy.

Good on you for the recognition that you got. You have reason to be pleased.
