I am looking to replace my Sigma:

Not that I need to I just want to. I want at least a 200mm and as fast as possible. I would like to stay around $500 if possible.

Any suggestions?

You can pick up a new 70-200F4L non IS for like $550 USD right now. faster and sharper then the sigma. And in your price range.

The funny thing about L lenses is that they seem to drop very little in price for used copies that are in good condition. I've seen 70-200 f4L lenses sell in the $525 on ebay. at that point, it's probably better to just buy new since the used one will not be eligible for warranty service.

BTW, I have one, and it's a great lens, especially for the money.

I second the vote for the 70-200 f4. Quite an exceptional lens for the money.

The Sigma 70-300 is a heck of a lens. In some situations (in my experience) it's sharper then my 70-200 F2.8L IS. Unless you are upgrading it to the 100-400 L or the 70-200 F2.8 I don't know if $550 is worth the upgrade to the 70-200 F4?

$500 and 200mm or over, I don't know what to suggest?

If you don't have a great macro lens the Canon 100mm F2.8 USM Macro is a fantastic lens. I know it's not 200mm though.

Check keh.com, they sell used lenses. Got my 70-200 f4L from them for about $400. Its an excellent lens.
