Well my daughter lives 1300 miles away. She has one beautiful daughter who is really an angel at just uner two years old. The baby was due on 5 March so the wife and I started the long 20 hour drive from Texas to Utah a couple of days early. We arrived and one hour later she went into labor, WOW just in time. So at 12:07 am 4 Mar 07 our new grandson Tanner arrived. Immediately after delivery we heard his father announce "Hey dude, welcome to the world". A couple of these pics are with Tanner less than one hour old.

OH, Thanks ya'll. And by the way, I'm in the first photo as the proud grandpa, it's my thumb he has his fingers wrapped around ;)

Still amazes me how helpless a new born human is, how much care is needed and yet we develope into the most advanced (well some of us ;)) creature on earth as far as being able to think, develope and invent. Babies are indeed a blessing. Even for those who don't like babies ... you was one too.

Congrats Don! Touching photos too! I remember when my now 6 y/o was born, and we took him right after into the nursery for weighing, etc. My wife was being put back together (c-section) so it was just him and I while the nurse did the paperwork. So with Mommy not around to suckle on, he grabbed my finger like your thumb photo, and put it right in his mouth and started sucking on my finger (good thing I washed really good). It was by far the sweetest thing I have ever felt. Sorry for blabbering, those photos of yours brought back some great memories.

.

Heck now they give birth in the regular hospital bedroom and invite the family in to see and hold the newborn in less than an hour. There must have been 15 people in the room with us. To hold a new born less than an hour old is really special indeed.
