I desperately need some help with my D200. Almost all of the shots I've taken with my D200 are grainy/noisy. I have tried everything I can think of to correct this, but to no avail. Has anybody else experienced a similar problem? Am I just doing something stupid? Please help!

I think we all need more information, like what have you tried and post an example of your grain with settings used.

I have tried adjusting ISO settings, color metering modes, quality settings, in camera sharpening, just about everything I can think of.

Here is an example. This was shot at 1/90 sec F5 and iso 100.

at 100% it looks like this:

I'm sorry, but I don't see an unacceptable level of noise here. Is it just me? I barely see any noise, really.

Your camera has noise reduction functions (long exposure, high ISO) inside it. Are these set properly? It also has sharpening and color saturation functions inside it which might impact grain. Are these set properly? Are you shooting RAW or JPG? Do you use noise reductions pluggins (Neat Image, Noise Ninja, PS Noise Reduction)?

I'm not seeing unacceptable noise at all there... are you shooting RAW or JPG?

I have the in camera sharpness and saturation set to normal. I shoot in raw and use CS2 to convert to JPG. I don't generally use the in-camera noise reduction, except when shooting at high ISO settings.

I have not tried any noise reduction software (except PS filter), but am thinking of getting Noise Ninja - I've read good things about it.

I haven't had any reason to complain about noise on any of my prints, but I generally don't require full size prints. I have however had major problems trying to submit to stock sites.

I am not all that happy with CS2 conversion from RAW and use Nikon Capture instead. My camera is set to Vivid and I leave niose reduction turned on. This gives me the results I prefer. You need to please yourself but you might try these settings.

edit: I use Neat Image noise reduction pluggin. I like the results much better than CS2 noise reduction.

Put me in with the ones who say these shots are fine!

You said all is well except when you submit to a stock site? Can you post one of those that they turned down?
