The falling snow made my entry much more dynamic, I thought. It seems the voters agreed with me ;-)

I liked this one alot except for the portion of the apt bldg in the bottom right corner.

I suspect I chose the wrong one to enter.

I think I submitted the wrong shot. Here are two alternates. Would anyone kindly comment (i.e., vote) for my alternates

and

Both are post-processed beyond the scope of the challenge, but they were initially taken with Trees in mind.

I prefer your first outtake to your entry. The second one is too small.

My original idea was "Cant see the forest for the . . ." and I took these for that idea;

But then I remembered the road to my uncle's place in Lesmurdie and thought of "Guard of Honour" and got my entry, however I liked this shot better but it had a raindrop on the lens so I diodnt want to get massacred for it.

However, my entry did nab me a personal best score so I am content.

I think this is outtake is a much stronger image. But, considering my track record, maybe my opinion isn't worth very much.

Entry

Same lake, I just turned and put the rising sun 90 degrees to my camera. The entry was shot towards the rising sun. I liked the higher contrast better for submission. Probably a wrong choice!

I seemed to have been bit by the DNMC Nazis who didn't consider part of a tree to be a tree.

I probably would have done even worse with this outtake even though I think it's DPC friendly and was a product of very lucky lighting (instead of any artificial background)...

Here is another version-this one cropped and manipulated to be closer to reality. I went back and forth between vertical and horizontal crop...
