This is a sad story out of my city....I have spent a lot of time in and around this big cat and probably the zookeeper by proximity.

I saw that on the news last night. So sad, both for the zookeeper and the Jaguar. I really don't see why the Jag had to be killed though, they could have, instead, tranquilized it while the emergency workers were on the scene.

Sad story any way you look at it.

They are not even close to being wild. They would not survive outside their cages in the wild for very long, since they would not know how to hunt, what other predator would eat them,(or how to avoid being eated by a real wild predator), and how to stay away from man without getting killed for begging for food.
