Anyone esle heard about this yet? Opinions? Seems like a significant step in digital imaging. Better get your 100 gig portable hard drives ready though!

I'd rather go back to film. 60fps is not photography anymore.

sixty frames per second? sheesh. buy a videocamera and you're done

| I'm absolutely sure that Sony developed this for consumer video applications. The 300 frames/second will allow development of video cams with very nice, smooth slow-motion capability, and the full-resolution 60fps readout will enable still capture without putting a glitch into the video stream. These are functions that will be very marketable for consumer video. The "binning" that will go on in order to bring down the resolution to video standards will also improve noise performance (averaging). |

BS A 25,000 dollar HD camcorder Provides less resolution at only 30 FPS.
6 MP Full resolution @ 60 FPS. Thats nearly 30% more information then High Definition resolutions and twice the frame rate for super smooth video. Not to mention continous drive like you wouldnt believe. |

I wouldn't say useless.. more like, the beginning of the end of digital image processing that we use today.
Imagine beeing able to select your shot from a video sequence instead of beeing stuck with only 1 shot while retaining the same quality.
That's the future.
Instead of pressing the shutter, you will press the record button. Then when you get home, you will view your "video" sequences and easily select the best shot from the short burts of images that you took earlier. Then process that shot the way you want it just like usual. |

They developed it for seemless Photo/Video applications it can provide 6 MP frames at 60 FPS. Its unheard of in both video camera's and Still Camera's. |
