I have noticed that the picture of a cat chasing a mouse was dq'd. I just wanted to know who took the picture, because it was amazing and I want to see it again. The fact that it broke the rules means nothing to me because it was a great picture outside the challenge.

I know what you mean.

There was a photo I loved of some leaves, 4 on 4 squares, that got DQ'd from a recent challenge (I am assuming because it looked like the same leaf 4 times and had been photoshopped).

I loved the photo and would like to have it as a favourite, but can't as I have no idea who did it (I do agree with it being Dq'd if indeed it was though).

However .....

I admit I don't like the idea of someone being presented to other members because they were DQ'd. no matter what the reason.

I think the best approach is to ask here and just hope the person is a forum reader :)

OH NO, I liked that one. Would like to know how it was done.

i don't really see what's so shameful about being DQ'd. it usually is a first time submitter who didn't read through all the rules. actually i think that bringing it up here kinda encourages people who have been DQ'd to keep submitting because people like their work.

That was an amazing picture, I left a comment that said just that "this is amazing" I observed that shot for quite some time, wondering if it was real or had been manipulated in some way, the sad thought was..the only way someone could get that shot was to set it up and the end results would have been awful (cat catches mouse and kills it) that would be awful! I am glad it was manipulated, for the mouse's sake anyway. LOL

it is possible it was taken outside the challenge dates. just a thought.

also, on a side note. people on dpc for some reason seem to treat a dq like excommunication. i don't see what the big deal is.

I, too, was extremely impressed by that shot. I was equally shocked last night when I tried to show it to the wife and found that it had been DQed.

Will the photographer come forward?

An aside, the DQ was enforced very, very quickly, don't you think?

I really want to see this shot, it sounds fantabulous.

Maybe it was DQ'd as someone requested it, an admin sent the request for the original, and the person wrote back saying "oops, sorry, yes, I stuffed up". All that could take place within an hour.

I want to see it too....!!!

It was a photo that was featured in a photography magazine back in january. It was also taken with a Nikon F80.

haha, that's pretty funny now. whoever was the original photographer has a great shot. it's too bad it was not legit.

It was my only 10 in the challenge. I suspected a possible DQ, so I saved it. For those who missed, it may be viewed at my personal webspace here:

damn, beat me to it, TSaylors.

I remember seeing this pic yesterday, thinking it had to be a fake, but I'd leave off on the DQ for a couple of days. I went through my Temporary Internet files and found it in my cache, but not much use posting it now that Tsaylors has done so :)

I guess I didn't pick up on this right away, so maybe someone else didn't either. Either that or I'm just really stupid, but the Nikon F80 is FILM, not Digital. So it's not just a date violation, which I originally thought. I did like the photo, and the description said it was actual panning, not editing, but rules are rules.

It was featured in the January 2003 edition of Popular Photography magazine receiving an honorable mention in the animals category, if go to the popular photography website there will be link to follow where you will find the picture and a brief description of how it was done.

So was the poster Sam Kien Hock Lim, or was it a case of theft of someone's photo as well as challenge fraud? If it was theft, the persons account should be closed.

I believe it was posted by the original photographer, if you search photographer profiles and enter his name it comes up that he registered on the 11th. So it appears that he just wasn't aware of the rules.

I wonder if it's something we can look into though, considering I could change my user name to MichaelJackson if I wanted to, but that doesn't mean I'm him.

That is true you can use any name and doesn't necessarily mean that you are who you say you are...but I'm staying out of this one! I've had enough battles lately! :-)
