I'm not sure why I did averagely in this challenge and unfortunately received no comments to help me improve. I'd really appreciate some comments.

Thanks!

Wow, cant believe you received zero comments! Normally you get at least one with 'nice shot'. Anyways, I've left you a comment on the image, hopefully it's constructive and will give you some things to think about when you set up future shots. I assume you're fairly new to photography so hope you dont find my comment too condescending.

I was going to say something but read moodville's comment and just went like... whoa! that's deep... now what I wanted to say will sound so shallow that I'm ashamed to say it out, LOL!

Anyway, I was gonna say I like the mood and composition (I like blue lighting, for some personal reason) but the highlights and different-coloured streaks are distracting. Also it looks like you did this at the edge of the table... I think it would have been done better if the base and background were uniform in colour or at least have a smooth transition rather than the harsh transition here.

Hope this makes sense...

Perhaps your entry did a little less than it deserved because cd's have been used a lot in past challenges, and in some minds at least, are approaching cliche status. I would have liked a little crisper focus. The marks on the cd in front of the beads, the red line, the black dot mid left are distracting. I gave it a 5. Not a bad start, GL in the next.

moodville: Not at all condescending. I am new to photography. :)

Adrian: Thanks for the advice. it was taken at the edge of the table. I think I'll try the same shot again with your suggestions.

collhar: I agree the red streaks and marks were distracting, but as we're not allowed to spot edit I left the image the way it is. I supose I'lll be more careful next time when setting up the shot.

Thanks all for your comments. :)
