Hi folks,

I just got a new camera (a Sony CyberShot DSC-H2) simply because I needed to upgrade to digital. (and stop using disposable cameras from the drugstore) I never considered being a "photographer" till I took my new toy out in the snow last week and took some really cool shots.

I found this site and would like to participate in some challenges but I'm worried my camera isn't professional enough.

Can anyone give input on my particular camera? I'd like to bring in a little income with my new hobby at some point. Is that possible with this camera?

Thanks for any advice you might have.

Lisa

The H2 is a very nice camera!

it will do you just fine.
remember, its the photographer that will make or break the photo. all about angles and lighting. you can have a very nice camera but ifyou don't know how to control anything else. you wont get a nice photo.

heres some examples from your camera

Man ... some absolutely INCREDIBLE images have been created with a pinhole camera. That machine is so SO state of the art compared to many.

Go ... have fun ... see everything, foreground, background, subject, and shoot, shoot, shoot ...

That's the beauty of digital.... shoot everything you want, and delete the duds!! AND DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!

Welcome. I think you'll love it here.

Ok, this is going to sound crazy, but the fact that you guys responded so quickly made me get a little teary eyed. My friends have all given me the "that's nice, Lisa, you and about 2 million other people want to be want to be a photographer...stick to waiting tables" line. (in so many words)

Thanks...I will go out there and have fun.

Welcome to DPChallenge.

The H2 has limitations, but probably ones that will not make much difference to you until you have been taking pictures for a while.

Enjoy yourself and have fun taking pictures.

If you wantza to be a photog, you be one. It won't be easy and it won't always be glamorous, but don't you dare stick to waiting tables. Nothing wrong with waiting tables, but if you want to do something, you do it. :)
