Seeing as no-one is coming forward, but bearing in mind that I have never lived in that area or been there, my suggestion to you would be to do a drive or walk around and look at what has always been obvious to you, the architecture of the buildings, the patterns in the structures, the pavements, macro and close ups, instead of looking at the big picture. Even if it means laying down on your back on the sidewalk with your fisheye lens (if you have one) and taking a picture of the buildings around you. Dont worry about people staring at you strangely, photographers do this sort of thing and generally ignore the funny looks. Shoot from a different perspective, low down, at an angle etc. etc. I am sure you get my drift. This is an area that I have a lot of trouble in because I also tend to look at the big picture, when there are all sorts of things right under our noses, in miniature.
