Question. What does NeatImage do that Photoshop doesn't? I see that a lot of people here use it in combination with Photoshop. I only have Photoshop 7 and was wondering if NeatImage was worth picking up. |

The down and dirty answer is that it removes noise in an image and gives it a much smoother look, or in the case of skin, some people consider too smooth a look. They have a trial version you can pick up and give it a try and see if you like it. I've used it on some pictures, and it can be helpful, but it probably should not be used on every picture. |

It will reduce noise caused by higher ISO or lighting situations. You must use it carefully, though, since it'll really soften the edges too much and make your subject look 'plasticky'.
I never use the settings at 100%; I usually work with levels of 50-60%. I use it when I feel grain (or noise) doesn't help out the photo.

NeatImage and Photoshop are two completely different applications. NeatImage is used to clean up noise from images; Photoshop is a complete image editing system used to retouch, edit and otherwise modify your pictures.
(edit: whoops, looks like two ppl already beat me to the reply, lol)
