I have a stamp collection I am wanting to add photos of the prettiest ones to my stock library. I was wondering if there is any legal reason why I shouldn't do that.
Anyone have any clue?

You don't own those images. That would be like walking into a gallery, snapping shots of the artwork hanging and selling those. You could probably get by with making some sort of collage or 'art made of stamps'.

With some exceptions the answer is usually that they are copyrighted. |

somewhat related question:
if you took a photo of someone's car, can you put it up as stock? |

Interesting. I would've thought US stamps would be uncopyrighted as works created by the federal gov't. Thanks for the link, Technoshroom!
