I got heaps of comments during the challenge...and many thought that my entry was set up. Well yes and no. This is our bedroom and yes, he did pose for the shot...but only during the actual renovations. Here is the entry -

and here is another shot taken 4.5 hours later.

By late afternoon there were no walls or ceiling. We were hoping to have it finished by now but with a few delays...well. But we have put in new insulation, power points, four downlights, new ceiling and walls. We have yet to put up the cornicing, window frames, paint, italian tiles and the lights. Then we just have to build the built in wardrobe and under window drawers. Our furniture is waiting to be delivered.

For the record...we DID NOT paint the ghastly pink...nor did we paint the rest of the house yellow. The previous owners did that....and were proud of it....ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The only thing that was consistent in that room, we found, was the type of acid the builders were tripping on at the time of building. Honestly those men had no idea what they were doing...for example...this house was built on the wrong block of land...I am not kidding!! And it gets worse...but that's a different story. LOL!!

My entry had a positively abysmal score. I was expecting better, but many just didn't "get it" (I suppose).

The shot was taken on the day of the challenge deadline and I didn't have much time to edit it.

This outtake is very similar in pose but much much heavier on the post processing.

You know I have never heard the expression "glass ceiling" before.

Judging by the comments, you are not alone. However, I would HOPE that people that aren't familiar with the expression would investigate before arbitrarily throwing out a DNMC low vote. It's pretty easy to find on Google, Wikipedia, etc.

I thought it was very clever and well executed. Nevermind the low vote - it's awesome.

Thought it was a great take on a concept that really met the challenge theme well. Do like your submission a lot better than the outtake.

Ya know, there are people here who cheer about scores that high.

Moving on, though, could you explain your reasoning behind doing it as a nude? I'm always looking for good ideas and trying to learn how other people think their way through a concept to a final photo. I thought it was a very good depiction of the glass ceiling concept, but wasn't sure why she was naked.

Thanks!

Oh, and for those asking, the glass ceiling refers to the phenomenon of women making it up the career ladder to a certain point and then, despite being qualified and for no apparent reason, not advancing any further. The lack of a good reason is why it's glass: there's nothing visible that would stop them.

It's still unfortunately prevalent here in the US, although it's been solved where I happen to work in the US government; at one point every manager between me and the President was a woman. :)
