Where do you get your ideas for your challenge entries? Sometimes I get what I think are really good ideas, well executed, and then they bomb... ie my current "Battle" entry.

So, I'm sitting here trying to think of ideas for the Entrance/Exit challenge & drawing a blank. Since I have three small children just getting out and exploring for inspiration isn't very feasable... just wondering where YOU go for ideas.

How about asking one of the three children what they think about entrances and exits?

I do a concept brainstorming in my note book, taking notes about everything that cames to my mind related with the challenge. In the next days I just look at what I registed and let my imagination make crasy relations with that notes. It's easy ;)

Great answer - Kids do not censor themselves and they are exceedingly honest, naïve and to the point.

shoot for yourself not for the challenges. If something comes up that is appropriate for a challenge, shoot it. If nothing comes up you may not have a challenge entry, but you will have plenty of great photographs. Either that or just go out to shoot for a challenge with little inspiration and enter a non inspiring photograph.

Look at corbis.com or istock.com and search on terms like Entrance and Exit..... whenever I'm stuck for ideas, that's where I usually head first.

I put up posters in the neighborhood, ask if anyone's seen it, leave some cookies outside the front door in case it decides to come back. Sometimes it never does and I have to find a new one. ;-)

Some excellent suggestions so far. All I know is you can't force it. If the idea comes to you when you are not thinking about the challenge, there's a good chance it's a good one and half the battle is over. The second half is actually executing the idea. Many times I got so caught up in the concept, I forgot that good photography was part of what people score you on (nitpickers!). :)
