Thanks.

There's lots of card readers about that will take CF cards, assuming that's what your Extreme III is. Personally I use one from Crucial

You don't specify what computer hardware you have, but if your 'pooter supports FireWire, you definitely want to go that direction. The FireWire readers are much faster than USB 2.0 readers. Since you've got very fast cards, why not take advantage of that speed?

I currently don't have a firewire card on my PC. What are my options?

Pretty much any USB 2.0 reader will be OK. Make sure it's labeled "high speed." Older USB 1.1 units are 2.0 compatible but are deathly slow.

If you value your time and do a lot of shooting, I'd suggest a Firewire card and reader. The cards are often available for $10 or so, and Firewire readers from Lexar, Delkin or SanDisk will save you time and money in the long run. The fastest reader currently available is the Sandisk Extreme IV ($80), but a $39 Lexar model is sufficient for most needs.

I would recommend a small portable model that you can carry with you. They make them in many different styles, here is the Sandisk version.

I have one like this and I really like it.
