hey, I have a photo I want to submit for a challenge. A big part of it is a rather stunningly coloured sky. But it's a bit bland, and I'd like to fiddle with it to enhance it to look more like it looked like "IRL".

How could I do this, within Advanced Editing rules? :)

one trick is to add a gradient. Using adjustment layers in the layer palette. going from black to clear, and adjusting the opacity so it looks right. using some of the blend modes on the layer can give u some interesting results

am I allowed to have a layer that is only the sky? or does additional layers have to be the full image?

in advanced editing, you can have as many different layers as you want, and you can adjust them (ie, change their blend mode and/or their opacity) as much as you want. in advanced rules, even though you cannot add elements or move stuff or create something that wasn't in the original image, you can edit the ever-loving heck out of what was in the original capture. then, it's up to the voters to let you know if they like what you did...

in advanced editing you are allowed to select just the sky, and edit that seperately from the rest of the image. so you could select the sky and create a layer from that selection. one way to do this would be with a layer mask.

Dodgning and Burning also workd really well i find. You could try that to make the clouds stand out more.
