Let me start the thread..it's perhaps a tad early, but maybe your family opens your gifts or a gift on Christmas Eve.

I'm getting (i know already) a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Well I have been given a choice:

Another Flash: 430EX

or

ST-E2 system for my existing flash.

Still undecided.

Hehehehe...hope you got lots of batteries. Don't believe them when they tell you that they last for ages...they have obviously never come up against a DPC addict...hehehehehe!! I ended up changing back to a corded set. Nothing worse then trying to type a comment and your mouse and keyboard stop working. I think I wore my reset buttons out...lmao!!

Isn't he just wonderful..... no wonder I love him.....

ps; lots and lots of other goodies as well.....

I got a watch, some sunglasses, a very nice basket of goodies from Bath and Body Works (the lavender vanilla Sleep basket), a new shelf unit for my bathroom, and a 4-CD set of 80s music. Yay me! :)

I got Byron an MP3 player and he hasn't taken it off his head all afternoon...I downloaded every Journey song and every Chuck Mangione song I could find and put them on the SD card before giving it to him...I hear "Children of Sanchez" blaring out of the headphones as we speak.

The boys opened family gifts tonight and got a variety of clothes and small toys. When Santa comes tonight, he's bringing the "big" stuff. The "big" stuff this year requires little to no assembly, so that's a big plus...however, the "big" stuff is exponentially more expensive than it used to be when I could just put a Big Wheel or a bike together and be done with it. C'est la vie! ;)

It's raining so one of our biggest traditions is out for the night...we usually put out reindeer food and leave "tracks" in the dirt for the kids to find in the morning...but we'll figure something out.

I hope you and yours have a very blessed Christmas!!

Our big gift to our daughters are tickets to go see The Cheetah Girls in concert on December 31st. I will be sure to take a picture of them opening the envelope.

How long do the batteries last? The box said 6 months...

I'm a keyboard addict - I have issues with typos and keep blaming my keyboards LOL. I bet I have 8 keyboards. I got a laptop and it came with a wireless mouse and I love the wireless mouse idea, and have wanted one for my desktop for years. I know if I steal the one from the laptop it'll never go back. I've not gone the 'wireless desktop' route as the cost has been $100..but with rebates the MS kbd and mouse were $29 (this is not the bizarre 'ergonomic' bent MS keyboard). The kbd has a lot of buttons for media player (had an old KBD with that but that was before MP3s...my laptop has them and I love them) and MS office quick launch buttons too. I might even use them.
But thanks for the warning on the battery bit - I'll make sure I have spares in my desk drawer!

Oh but we live in the heat and still the reindeer come inside. We leave a trail of flour or milk powder or whatever down before the children go to bed...kind of like a trap. And in the morning we see if the reindeer walked through it... ;)

This year they even walked over the lounge to the window, after walking through the milk powder!!!!...Naughty reindeer!

haha nope ;)

In Holland the Christmas-"party" is still developing. We celebrate "Sinterklaas" on december the 5th with presents, Christmas is more a family-holiday with chique dinners, lots of food and happy times. No presents.

Lots of PS3s around here - $950 or so is the asking price for the 60Gb model. 4 or 5 were in the paper this week in the want ads section. Some guy has a plywood sign in his front yard, asking $1000 - it was still there as of 3pm today. I guess no takers!

All you need over there is a mall or two, a few walmarts and it'll be as commercial as it is here in no time! It's an excuse to spoil the kids with toys and splurge a bit on yourself. My wife is getting a new briefcase - it's what she wanted. Some years we get a 'family gift' like the home theatre system 2 years ago.

I find this rather interesting. I grew up in a francophone element in Northern Ontario and Christmas was a religious holiday were we went to Midnight Mass, following which we had a "Réveillon", which loosely translated means "Drunken Bash" with copious amounts of food.

If gifts were to be had, we children got those on New Year's morning.

All this to say I got nothing for Christmas.

Ray

I've got a years subscription to Practical Photography (plus the free gift of a LowePro Orion Trekker II) and at least at 1GB Extreme III SD card........I'm sure there is also cash for at lens or a tripod.

Hope Santa is good to you all to. Merry Christmas.

Of course the religious part of Christmas is still being celebrated, I work at a school and we went with all the children to the church. That was a fun time, the kids were overwhelmed by the huge church and they really loved the church-celebration (I have no idea how this is called in English)

But the "American"-style with presents and Santa is coming, and pushing Sinterklaas away.. (here's something about him, he looks a BIT like Santa ;) //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas )

Anyway. My point. Uuuuhm...

Got my laptop a little early. HP Pavillion 9000, 17in monitor. Hopefully another BEARS jersey (GO BEARS). This may be our last Christmas with all the kids at home, so it will be a special one. I am retiring from the Air Force in Feb and my daughter just enlisted last week.

Merry Christmas to all on DPC and your families. From my family to yours, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a great New Year.
