Ok guys and gals, who bought themselves a Christmas photographic gift and have already started to use it?

I must admit, yes I did ... a new Canon 5D and a new Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM .... wow what a monster lens, so much bigger than my 70-200 f4L. Yes I broke the rules of Christmas giving ... but smiling too ;)

I got myself a little present this year as well. And I gave it to myself early. I also got the wife a an early present as well. Although she thinks she got the short end of the deal. I got a 1DMKII and she got a Casio Z70. I dont see the problem, I had to supply my own lens hers came with one.

Sounds like a perfectly good exchange to me, she should be proud of having such a great husband who cares so much that he gets a 1DMKII to take pictures of her with. What a guy ... the rest of us fel so cheap now!

Well, mine's not an early gift. But my new tripod arrived last week, I brought it in, my wife wrapped it, and it's been waiting for me to open it since.... Hopefully if my lazy guests get it in gear, we'll be opening gifts shortly.

I ordered a Sony lens 75-300mm about 2 weeks ago, got it last Wednesday, locked it up until the other day when I wrapped it and put it under the tree last night. Needless to say I have been chomping at the bit wanting to use it. Didn't get a chance until 11:45 this morning. Only did birds, because that was the most available out my windows, but going to the beach on Wednesday to try to give it a really good work out. Yeh, this is New England, the beach will be about 38 degrees with wild winds, but I don't care. Crazy, huh?
