Anyone have experience or used one. Looks kind of neat idea.
Different models for different camera types.

| yup thats where I saw it so I thought I do some research on it here on DPC first. Cheap alternative for those that dont have a tripod. It might actually be a good piece of equipment. |

Here's a quote from a magazine review:
"The legs of the gorillapod are made up of ball and socket joints so you can mould them into a variety of shapes, and even wrap it around objects.
The trouble is it doesn't offer the rigidity needed for the SLR it claims to support. We tried it on a Nikon D70 (not the heaviest SLR around) and there was a lot of residule bounce and vibration from the Gorillapod's structure. You can just about get around this by waiting for it to settle down using a 10secs self timer, but this is far from ideal. Also when wrapped around an object the weight of the camera tended to pull it downwards, making it annoying to use..."
Not sure quite what they meant by the last comment - not so much 'annoying' as 'useless' I'd have thought!

Incidentally, I saw these instructions for making a DIY gorillapod the other day. Like the original, it doesn't look like it'd do much to support a dslr, but it could be handy for a smaller camera...or someone who needed a project. :)
