Ok, this has nothing to do with photography, but I figured some may have some input for me. :)

I opened a bottle of red wine about a week and a half ago. All I did was put the cork back in, and it's been sitting at room temperature on the counter.

Is it still good to drink after a week and a half?

I'm not an expert and I'm not really sure but don't some people keep wine for years at pretty close to room temperature?

Might be as long as it hasn't be subjected to any sort of temperature fluctuations...worse thing that can happen really is it turns to vinegar

Most likely not. Noticeable flavour decreases happen within a couple of days of uncorking. Three to four days at most if you have not refrigerated the bottle.

I noticed one not long ago that I had uncorked about a week earlier. Because I don't really keep track I just popped the cork and poured a glass. Pretty much the most vile thing I have put in my mouth other than guacamole!

Good luck for your bottle though.

Wine contiues to oxidize and soften after you open it until you drink it. The longer you leave it though the better the chances of it turning to vinegar. A week or two is not bad in my book. Many wine buffs I know though would be offended.

Drink it fast. ;)

For unopened bottles this is correct. I have a few that I have had stored for a couple of years without a worry. They should be stored on their sides so that the cork stays wet, but they can stay like this for a long time. Once it is opened though... look out!

I must be a lush because the concept of leftover wine is really foreign to me.

i just screw the top back on and throw it back in the fridge. never had a problem. ;)

seriously, though, i would use it to cook. you can make a quickie coq a vin or a great tomato sauce depending on what kind it is.

My mom opened a bottle of wine sometime before I left for college, drank a little bit, and stuffed it back in the fridge. Last summer, my boyfriend and I were visiting, and she offered him a glass out of it. I noticed it was the same bottle and promptly threw it out before he could refuse it :D

Wine gets gross fast. I generally finish a bottle within 36 hours of opening it.

That's an average time! Also I am small and Asian and don't always finish a whole bottle in one night. And the boyfriend hates wine so usually I'm drinking his portion as well ._.
