I am intrigued that entries seem to equate lonely/loneliness with despair.

It does for some, lonely becasue your partner has died, becaue you have no friends, because your outcasted by society....

You can be surrounded by tons of people and still feel as if you are alone.

Ever travelled abroad, not understaning the language and having a bad day? That's feeling all alone.

Ever had a REAL bad day at work and you feel that no one understands or cares? That's feeling all alone too.

A homeless person sleeping in the street with busy people walking by and not even acknowleging his/her existence. That's all alone too.

Being all alone has all sorts of physical, mental, social connotations and I could go on and on...

That's very true... but try conveying some of those ideas in a photo.

Do you really have to "remind" voters of this? Seems pretty obvious to me...

It’s weird that most of the entries are showing the sad side of being alone. On the contrary the photo of a girl running on a beach with a pink top, really brings a positive happy feeling across.

maybe most ppl were depressed when they made their photos. this could happen in this cold, grey, wet autumn weather :-) (at least here it is so)

From what I understood, viewing the object or subject had to GIVE ME a feeling of loneliness and somebody happy just doesn't make me feel that way. I would at any time take a happy feeling than a sad one, but loneliness is sad for me. I don't say that somebody can't be alone and happy, but seeing him or her, won't make me feel lonely myself.

I don't think we are supposed to talk about specific photos while the voting is still going on. Lighting voting is still open for another 3 days and All Alone goes on for 2 more after that.

Perhaps I missed it, but I don't see any discussion of a particular photo here. This is the "current challenge" forum, so I'd expect people to be talking about the current challenge, but of course, no specific photographs.
