My image was DQ'd

The image was processed in Picasa (crop, auto contrast, sharpen, glow, (de)saturate) and the reason for DQ is:

"The use of effects filters (excluding glow) is not permitted in Basic Editing. Please review the challenge submission rules."

I have replied to the DQ requesting further clarification but have not received a reply, to my knowledge I have kept with the basic editing rules, if this is not the case then all I ask is a little advise such that I don't repeat the mistake in the future.

This is a similar process to other images that I have submitted in the past so if anyone can point out where I went wrong such that I can learn and move on it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

My guess is they typoed on your reason and it should say "The use of effects filters (including Glow) is not permitted."

From the rules:

You may not:
use filters or stand-alone utilities designed to preserve image integrity (such as Neat Image, Unsharp Mask, Dust & Scratches, and color correction tools). These filters must be applied uniformly to the entire image, and must not be used in such a way that their use becomes a feature. No "effects" filters may be applied to your image, with the exception of Noise and Gaussian Blur.

But confirmation from them will be the best bet.

Yep, should read (including glow). Remember that the only effects filters that are legal under Basic are those specifically mentioned in the rules, namely gaussian blur and noise.

Okies - many thanks

I has assumed (wrongly) that Picasa was basically safe for the basic rule set (with the exception of the obvious spot/area filters) the only thing that I was a little unsure about was glow but when the reason stated that glow was ok then confusion set in.

Sadly, I think that I may have used glow in some previous entries :(

At least it won't happen in the future :)
