Anyone planning on assaulting the stores first thing Friday for some deals?
//bfads.net/ has the ads so you can plan early.

Last year I did good, but missed a few things I wanted. This year that will not happen!

I (and 2 friends) begin camping out at 9 pm thurs. Yes, 8 hours to wait. The list is 3 laptops, 2 desktops, 2 19" monitors, 1 DLP projector, and some miscellaneous items (laptop case, DVDs, CF cards, speakers, etc)

I saw one store had a Canon Rebel for $799. BestBuy has the 400XTi for $899 w/ kit lens.

If I had more money I saw a 50" plasma TV for $1699!

I am going to get a Big Kick out of watching all the people getting trampled at the local super stores when the doors open. I will be doing this from the comfort of my living room with the remote in my hand while the 6 Oclock News shows the highlight reel. Every year they show some lady at a walmart who decided she is going to try and hold back the 300 lunitic shoppers lined up behind her. Never the same lady of course but always the same results.

Too many times I have stood out in the cold at 4AM in a line with 200 others all wanting to buy the same item which the store only has 50 of. The caos and mayhem that goes on in those stores simply are not worth it to get the deal.

In America the day after thanksgiving (Friday) many stores have huge sales and compete to get shoppers that are buying Christmas gifts. some of the prices are really cheap loss leaders that the stores only have a few of so people wait in line for hours waiting for the store to open then act like crazy people trying to get the stuff.

Miss out on a PS3 and a Wii? November 22, 2006
While there was a lot of hype surrounding the launching of the Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3, if you missed out, there might be a better alternative.

Dell.com is currently offering the Xbox 360 Premium (Hard-Drive Included) Console for $340, $60 off its retail price! You must add the Xbox 360 Premium to your cart to see the discount! If the Xbox's price appears to be $580, click customize and remove all the accessories to get the price down to $400 - $60 discount.

This is the prime time to purchase an Xbox 360 because the year-long anticipated Xbox 360 game was just released earlier this month, Gears of War, which received a 9.4/10 rating from IGN.com. Not only this, but Dell is giving you an $8.85 (15% Off) Discount if you purchase Gears of War with the Xbox 360 Premium.

Considering the limited ability of both the Wii and PlayStation 3, along with their lack of games and initial console revisions being susceptible to major bugs and glitches, the Xbox 360 may very well be the best gaming choice for this holiday season.

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. It takes place the day after Thanksgiving in America. Lot's of stores offer discounts and just about every one goes shopping to keep with tradition. It's the day the stores go back in the black after possibly being in red the rest of the year. Black and red are financial terms. Red is losing money, black is making money.

Well... let's seeeeee.

Our dishwasher broke, so we bought a new one along with shelling out for installation.

The installer showed up and said he wouldn't install it because the electricity is not to code.

So I guess we're getting new wiring for Black Friday.

I will be sitting safe at home while my mom and grandmothers and aunts brave the stores. And I shall laugh with evil glee when they come home frazzled and stressed from the experience. :-)

I DON'T do black friday shopping. That's madness!! For the last few years, I do 90% of my shopping online. Since I work from home, that's the easiest way, I can shop at leisure and its delivered to my door. During the holidays lots of online stores offer free shipping too.

For many years I have been behind the counter during the madness. Since I am no longer in retail, I am very happy setting out that craziness for another year! Yippee!

I worked crazy 17+ hour days when i worked at best buy on black friday and i don't miss it one bit. sure it is kinda fun for the first hour getting ready and the first hour or so of selling but then it just get really sucky and tiring. I still work retail but my business doesn't do big black friday sales and I don't actually have to help the customers anymore anyway.

XBox 360 - forget Dell. On black friday $299 w/ a game.

Last year was the first year I went out early, and I was wimpy only going to Stapes (they open a 6, everyone else is 5am) and waited 45 minutes. I got a 250Gb hard drive for $30, a sony dual layer DVD burner for $80, a spindle of 50 DVD-R for $5 and a few other oddball items like family radio walkie-talkies for $15.

This year the business needs a laptop. $700+ right? Well...how about $379?
I need a DLP projector (for next year really) but at $399 instead of $800 I'll get it now (and watch football really BIG!).

samsung 19" wide LCD (2ms response and 2000:1 contrast) for $129 is just too good to pass up IMO.

Between the 3 of us (and we're shopping for a few friends for the desktops - $189 including 15" LCD) we figure to spend aroun 2 grand. BUT that's $4000 worth of stuff. Is it worth a few hours (well, 8 in our case) to save $2000? That's $100 an hour in savings.

For $100 an hour I'll stand in the cold. (well, we'll have chairs, tent, stove and coffee and food)

where? i searched the site you linked and the only 360 for 299 is the core system which is a waste of money considering you get for the extra $40 from dell. the premium system has a hard drive (which you need or you have to buy a memory card) and a wireless controller.

I'm with you. Holiday shopping at brick&mortar stores sucks.

Shopping, NO.

But I am going to go out and take some pics of those that are waiting in lines for the stores to open.

My fiance is going to be heading into the fray in the wee hours of the morning on Friday.

She says she's in it for the thrill of the hunt. I honestly don't see the appeal - I'd much rather order online too.
