The full story:

I have these little radio shack flatfoto 3mp cameras, they use a single lens adjust for infinity. I wanted to try and use a different lens on it so i won a set of cheap 35mm film cameras off e-bay. They had a 2X optical zoom that you can adjust manualy.

When i took the lens out and i put it on the flatfoto sensor its almost like its already at 2X zoom. I lost the wide end of the camera.

Why does this happen? it will focus and the image looks ok but it just seems to be already zoomed for some reason.

Does it have somthing to do with how large the 35mm film is and how big the sensor is on the Flatfoto camera?

That's exactly it. Since the sensor is so much smaller than 35mm film you are getting a large "crop factor".
