My son devin, who is the High school Class "A" hurdles champ for outdoor track during his sophmore-senior year, and indoor for his soph-Junior year (2nd plc. senior due to broken leg during soccer) Is in Connecticut at college to hurdle. I just got a call from his coach, and he has finally cleared threough the NCAA to compete, and is now being given a 50% scholorship to run for his school....

Yeah, None of the kids in Maine liked to race him, as in his Sophmore - Senior years in H.S. he only lost one race when competing in the state. He also raced in a National meet in his Junior year at the New York Armory, and placed 5th (he was only 16).

Where in Maine do you live. His jersey looks like the Rockland Tigers, thats my old high school. If so, he is probably breaking records I set almost 20 years ago. Congrats to both you and him.

He also looks better than I ever did.

Yeah, Its still there...On every level in every sport. But Devin is so laid back, he hung out with half of Thortons team anyway.

Congrats!

A lady I work with, her son (Chris Carter) went on to run the hurdles in China this past August and took 1st place in International competition. It was really exciting following along on his progress. Hopefully you're in for a similar "ride" as you follow your son's progress. Good luck to him and to you. :-)

Congrats - nothing like being a proud parent. The glow never seems to fade either.

Congrats! That must've taken a lot of long, hard training. It sure did pay off, as tuition is not cheap.

... next stop, the Olympics! :-)

Yeah, you never know. He was told to be prepared to not win every meet. He dominated the state for 3 years, but college is whole other level. For him to come out and win his first meet is just amazing.
