Team Suck is accepting nominations for two distinguished sucker awards.

An OOBIE sucker is awarded to an "Out Of the Box" entry in a DPChallenge, something that meets the challenge in a creative fashion that DPC voters might not have properly appreciated.

A YAPPIE sucker is given to a commentor for either a particular comment or a history of great comments.

Please review the recent Free Study XIV, Landscape in Portrait, Portrait in Landscape, and Wind results. If you have ideas for someone who should get an OOBIE or a YAPPIE, please post your suggestions in this thread. It's helpful to have a blurb or even a poem about why you are making the nomination.

Please do not nominate yourself or your photograph.

Not for any particular comment, but for commenting in general, I'll offer up SJCarter - if I leave a couple of comments on his shots, he turns around and leaves me a bunch more. Also a nod to one of our own, skewsme, for a delightful comment on my Acorns shot in my portfolio.

I'll be back with some OOBIEs later.

For OOBIES (and I know, I'm not on the winning team - I'm just nominating anyway....)

No rule of thirds, has a kid, came in 291st in Free Study. But oh what a picture!

180th in Landscape in Portrait mode, and what a delightful change of pace it is.

I'd like to nominate by klstover for an OOBIE for her excellent Wind Entry! She placed 147th out of 158.

I second Kelli's nomination - very clever shot!

To make nominations, you don't have to be an OOF or team sucker! We listen to anyone-well almost anyone.

I gave both Kelly and k4ffy high scores for those photos, and think they are both highly deserving. I think, though, I've got to go with Kelly's photo for the OOBIE award. Really creative and underrated.

I like this shot, and given the challenge is very OOBIE deserving IMO. Very clever.

I'll second this...!

I had this in my top 3 in that challenge and was really surprised to see it doing so bad.

Wow... thank you all! Just being mentioned in this thread means so much to me.

I like this shot very much and gave it a high score. However DNMC because it it actually in landscape orientation. Also it did quite well in the challenge (over 6.2 and 40th). I think it didn't suck enough.

Here are two more OOB’s from Pegasus to add to this one nominated by Melethia. The first is titled “End of subject” and was for “No subject”. The second is “Relativity” and was for “Unrelatedness”.

I nominate Melethia for a YAPPIE, because she writes a lot of positive and helpful comments, even when she doesn't know whose picture she is commenting on. She has commented on several of mine during voting, and somehow consistently managed to understand what I was trying to do.

Thank you most kindly, Julie! I do a lot of commenting and often think it just flies right on out into the ether without notice sometimes. :-)

I prefer to call them vignettes... ;)

If you're bored and want writing practice, I have a portfolio folder wanting comments. But your better half already gave me the perfect comment on the Acorns shot.

And I'm gonna enter a shot in B&W that I'm hoping will find it's way to you at some point. It'll score maybe 4.9, I'm guessing.

Need a fourth? I'm new to the game sort of and I got a nice helpful Melethia comment on my wind entry too.

Edit to add I REALLY loved her comment on my self portrait entry...

And I don't get to find out which that one was until tomorrow (Sheryll's self-portrait). To me, the self-portrait challenges shouldn't be challenges - they should simply be showcases. Same basic rules - submit pictures taken during the challenge period, etc, etc, but no voting - just commenting. And once you've entered your comment, then you get to see whose picture it was. :-)

Thanks for the comments, guys - much appreciated!

I nominate RKT for a YAPPIE.

Her 2533 comments are substantive, heartfelt, and insightful. What more can I say?

Edit to add: Oh, and how could I forget the queen of commenting, jutilda?

Two great commenters. Both of them a credit to the DPC community!
