Entry version:

or this:

I ask because I showed the outtake to my gf and she liked the outtake better. Naturally, I entered the one I liked. Was I wrong?

Didn´t get to this entry during the voting but it impresses me much. The high contrast desat is very good although the pose makes the top of head blend in the background...the color one doesn´t do that...so I guess you´ll never know...would probably have given 8 for such a shots.

sorry dude but got to agree with your girlfriend on this one. I think the colour brings out a lot more emotion in the image (which Im guessing was your objective?). And the pale colours themselves are just great maybe just wee bit more contrast.

For ME anyway.

It depends what you're going for. If you're going for a dark spooky look I'd say go with the black and white one. To be perfectly honest the colorless one makes it look like a morgue shot.

If you're going for a more lively caring family photo then the color one is much better. It's amazing how much the color of a photo can change the entire mood.

I have to say, he's got some amazing blue eyes that are surprisingly clear for his age.

I like the color one a lot more, cause it captures life and the old mans life-experience, the bw one looks like a sketch to me.

It looks like you selectively colored the eyes of the B&W and that makes them look a lot bluer, but I don't think the average DPC voter will take the time to notice!

I don't know which I prefer. I think that I agree with the idea that it depends on what you're going for.

They're both really great!
