Internet explorer 7 includes a new feature where we can zoom the window. Want a better look at a photo you are voting on? Just click the zoom control in the lower right to receive an amplification.

This will be a god-send for my vision challenged mom, who each time I visit asks me "can't you make things bigger?"

Very handy to get a better look at photos that were posted in a small size. Many of the submissions that are posted in the lanscape format can be viewed larger as well.

Or you could just use another browser like "Opera" which already does that... ;-)

Had IE7 for a while now and I must say I am loving it. tabbed browsing just like Firefox. All kinds of new cool features. It will be an automatic updade on November 1st. I am thinking of making the permanent switch from Firefox back to IE. I say if you like Firefox and want to stick with it then do so.

Why would you want to zoom into a photo on DPC?
You're already seeing all the pixels in the photo. Zooming it up doesn't create more.

I'm happy to be away from IE....and now Firefox V2 is out I'm quite happy! Runs like a dream!

I'd rather avoid viruses, popups etc that come more frequently with Microsoft products, so no I won't be getting it.

Firefox is getting them also.

And They have added pop up blocklers, phishing filters and all kinds of cool shit. Viruses are everywhere. The only way to avoid them is to get rid of the computer or get yourelf a good anti-virus program. It is not just Microsoft products that get them.

I got a whole lot more junk when using IE. Since using Firefox and Netscape mail I haven't got anything nasty. Why test fate?

You don't have to get rid of the computer to be free of viruses, just the internet. And oh...yea....don't accept anyone elses files.

I zoomed in on a photo just last night when voting on the "After the Game" challenge. I saw a professional stadium and wondered which one it was. I zoomed in to see the signs and banner advertisements in the background. Worked great!

IE7 substantially improves your online security and working with tabs is much easier in IE7. One advantage of coming in late to the tabbed browsing party, as Internet Explorer has, is that you get to improve on the ideas of those who've gone before you. IE7's controls for opening, closing, and managing tabbed windows are noticeably simpler than those in Firefox, with a button on the tab bar to open a new window and a red X to close the active Web page. Out of the box, closing a Firefox tab is a potentially awkward two-click operation -- one click to select the tab, and a second click on the red X at the far right of the tab bar. The process is annoying enough that most Firefox experts quickly install a tab-browsing extension. No extra software is required for IE7 to handle this.

You can manage two or three open pages easily enough, but after opening a dozen or more pages the tabbed interface becomes essentially unusable. At that point, Internet Explorer provides a much easier way to manage all those open pages. Click the Quick Tabs button at the left of the tab bar to see a thumbnail view of all open tabs. From this window, you can close any tab you no longer need to keep open and then switch to a new active tab with a single click. To get similar functionality in Firefox, you need to install an extension like Viamatic foXpose. Again, no extra software is required for IE7 to have this functionality.

Yes, that's if you absolutely insist on using mouse for everything. I don't. Makes life a little easier.

EDIT: By the way, do you work for Microsoft?

IE7 vs Firefox

Firefox has a dandy little extension that zooms any photograph you click on. Not the whole page, just the photo. "Why would you want to zoom?" someone asked earlier, since you already are seeing the 640 pixels. Simple; some of us run at very high resolutions on our monitors, and the 640-pixel image doesn't take up much space at all. On highly-detailed images, sometimes a little zoom helps make sense of them. It's closer to what most people are seeing with their mid-to-low screen resolution settings, actually.

I really like the tab in IE 7 that shows you ALL of your tabs. It's a rip-off of Mac OSX F11, but at least they picked a great feature to copy :) That said, when I click an image or something that opens in a new window, it takes about 12 seconds to open. In general, it's much slower than Firefox. Also, I can't stand the new Favorites position and having to click to get your folders to open is stupid.

Downloaded Firefox 2.0 today and it UNDERLINES SPELLING MISTAKES. It totally rocks for forum posts. Check this post for typos :)

Oh yeah. FFs Extensions (now called Add-Ons) are one of the coolest things ever invented for computers. I have an eyedropper that gets the hex code for any color in the browser, a one-click form filler, an extension that downloads all the links in a Page (very handy for grabbing entire folders of images from a company I'm working with and button on the toolbar that opens up a side bar that allows me to edit the CSS on a page directly. I can instantly check to see how new background colors and link hovers are going to look!

I'm sticking with the Fox, fo' sho'.

IE is good for about one thing IMO, that's Windows Update and even that can be bypassed... LOL

Nah, I think I'll stick with Firefox thanks.

Hmmm.....I don't have this problem. Maybe you need to customize your options.

Yes, but I run a lot of non-Microsoft software and use a lot of non-Microsoft hardware. I use MSFT when it makes sense and non-MSFT when it makes sense. With Firefox, it just doesn't make sense.

I was disappointed with FF2.0 actually - Nothing much that I didn't have with the prev version + a lot of add-on's -> I was hoping they would actually take another step (although the integrated spell check is better). IE7 does not seem to have much other then better CSS support and what FF already had. I will likely still stick with FF.

IE can stuff it, sticking to FF for sure.

I love FireFox, too. I was stuck in the IE rut and afraid to change for a long time but once I gave FireFox a fair chance I was hooked. There's no goin' back...esp. since I discovered the Flash Blocker. Man, that is a godsend.
