Find the newest post processing challenge here: //www.onetacoshort.com/ppc/index.php?action=compete

This one is a little different: Use the four images provided to produce a final image. The focus is to produce a digital artwork made up of multiple source images. Make a collage, use overlays, get creative with your borders - it's all up to you.

Submissions for challenge #3 (Horse) are accepted through tomorrow under the compete page.

Challenge #2 (Toddler snapshot) is in the voting phase through tomorrow, and the completed challenge will appear on the home page Thursday.

Submit your pictures to be used in the PPChallenges under the contribute page so I can stop using my lame images for the challenges! =)

It occured to me that the 120px thumbnail doesn't do these sunrise images justice. Who wants to edit a boring sunrise? When you sign up to compete, you can download the full resolution image (usually direct from a multi-megapixel camera).

Here's a slightly larger (still not full size) preview of this challenge's image:

It's a nice sunrise. I'm sure that some of you talented folks will produce excellent collages.

Cheers,
-Jeff

Thanks I just registered there and was going to ask to see a better version before I commit to editing.

Well, I tried twice to upload.. this was my entries:
but both times when I hit submit it just stalls. Says Please Wait. I let one run for 4 hours before I hit refresh and ofcourse, I'd been logged out & nothing uploaded. :( I'll try one more.

ETS: I was the only on who thought to crop the kid for better composition :P

Awesome edits, Cindi! I dropped your horse image in Challenge #3, since that one's still in the voting phase. Great crop on the toddler, too!

I don't know why this is doing this - every machine I've used works fine. Please, anyone having trouble with uploading images, PM or post the following information:

1. OS type (Windows, MAC)
2. Browser version (Usually under Help->About or some such)
- ie Firefox 1.5.0.7, or IE 6.0.2, etc.

I'll get it figured out. In the mean time, if you have trouble uploading images, email them to me at jeff.ward@gmail.com if you want me to enter them.

It's no big deal - these first few competitions are sort of trial runs... Her's is easily best anyway. =) And that's exactly what we want - people to up the bar.

Awee shucks! Thanks, Jeff. I'll let you know if I have a problem with the next one. I haven't started it yet.

Funny thing is, I thought one of the entries that was already in there was hers...and it was one of the 2 I liked the most.

That's a hell of a thing for an administrator of a competition to say, dude :-( I got a horse in that race, and I happen to think my PP of the image is better than Cindi's... But it's not for me or you to say, is it now? Certainly, she went the extra mile by making a magazine cover out of it, but if we're going to allow wholesale importation of outside elements into these images on a regular basis, I'm not interested in competing. As far as I understood it, the "rules" were to be pretty much the DPC advanced editing rules, a little looser in some areas? I'd prefer to see the creation of covers and ads with text restricted to specific challenges, as additional rules.

I'm with ya, Bear. I guess the one I thought was hers must be yours.

Regarding the "magazine cover" aspect, I just read the individual challenge rules more closely:

"Change the appearance of this bland horse. Get creative - this challenge is intended more for photo editing than post processing. You may use elements from other photos you have taken. Time to show off!"

So this is a special case, after all. My apologies to Cindi :-) Although, technically, her typesetting isn't "elements from other photos", jejeje™

Indeed, my vision is that most challenges will be simple post processing according to the DPC rules. But it's sometimes fun to color outside the lines, so to speak. =)

Like you said, I'm generally describing the rules in the challenge description, so look there as you sign up.

Cheers,
-Jeff
