I am a beging photographer that has been taking pictures for a couple of months.

I was wondering if I was ready to move on to something more advanced other than a Point and Shoot.

If so what kind is the best brand and model.
SLR (digital or 35mm) or point and shoot

And what is the best place to purchase it

Here are some of my photos on about a 4 MP

Only you can answer that question. Is your P&S holding you back? Are you wishing for features that your current camera doesn't have?

A newer/better/bigger camera will not make you a better photographer. In fact, in my case, having an older model that was missing standard features caused me to learn the technical aspects of photography faster. I was forced to work around the limitations of the camera.

In any other profession or hobby, you upgrade your equipment when it ceases to be of use to you. Photography is no different.

If you can name 5 things you want to do, that you can't do with your current equipment, and could do with new equipment, then I would say you are ready to upgrade.

Film SLR is the most fun.

Here the 5 things are...

1. I need mor flash....I cannot take night pictures
2. I have so much grain in my photos
3. I cannot take pictures of moving subjects
4. I want my photos to look more proffesional...clarity
5. I want a more advanced camera were i can learn aperature, ISO, Shutter speed

Are these good reasons

If so and the SLR is for me should I go Digital or 35mm
I have been researching SLRs and I think a nikon would be best for me, but I am wonder which is better for me Digital or 35mm

Thanks
