I just finished my first round of voting. It took about 4 hours to view all pictures and provide comments for each.
Voting aides would be really helpful. I used three criteria: Photo Quality; Adherance to Challenge and Creativity.
Then I averaged the scores with extra weight for the last two.
I know the Admins for this page are faced with extreme challenges themselves, but I feel we need
an easier method for voting and feedback.
How do you feel about a pull down menu of Frequently Used Comments?
Like - FOCUS!; Lighting Issues; Missed Challenge; Lacks Creativity and so on.
Scan previous comments for the "most used" and insert as a pull down.

I'd much rather that someone didn't bother commenting than just picking some comment from a list.

I'm pretty comfortable with the current process.

I would get bored reading the same comments over and over again too... lets just make a code system. Just use a number for your comment and I'll pull out my handy dandy translation card to decide what it means:

1 - Loved It
2 - Liked It
3 - hum dee dum dum
4 - Umm.. This isn't workin for me
5 - Dude, you suck

;)

Quality can take time. I would absolutely hate it if the messages were turned into canned messages. That would totally sterilize this site and take the human factor out of it. If you are concerned with time then you can create your own canned messages in a word program and just cut and paste your selected messages into the forums. At least then it would be from you.

Voting is just like trying to exhibit yur photos in real life. People use different criteria for evaluation, just as if they were in a gallery. It ain't broke, don't fix it.

Sorry, didn't mean to crush the personal touch. Just time saver. You all's points are well taken. I will either limit my comments, or comment on less entries.
Thanks for your input.

I think it is great that you are being serious about your voting and trying to leave a lot of messages. I am going to try and leave more messages because it seems we all like to read them. Mybe we will all become better and faster typers which will certainly help.

Thank you Tim. I think I may use your idea about a Word Doc with "Standard Comments", though I do still want to "personalize" all my comments, as I was always envisioning in the first place. Sincerely.
