I entered Disco Angels and quickly realized very few folks are familiar with philosophical questions of the middle ages... Oh the hardship of the SCA member in a mundane world...

Anyway, would Matthew 19:24 have done better?

Well, I had to look it up:

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

That being said, nice concept. There is too much that is out of focus however. When using distances to change sizes, both fore and background should be in focus.

Does the camel need to be in focus? I worked specifically to make him out of focus... The eye of the needle was the 'focal point' of the image. I wanted the camel to be more of an implied bit player...

Was this a bad idea?

I would say yes, I too would have liked to seen the camel in focus to even better illustrate your point. If the camel is fuzzy it takes away from the implied meaning of the shot and gives away the difference in size.
