Wow, I went on a shoot tonight to photograph my brother's car and it was dark cause it was night.

SO in the view finder I would line up focus just right so its tack sharp. But when I look at the pictures on the computer, THEY ARE OUT OF FOCUS!

I know it had to be the focus because:

It was on mirror lock-up
and I was using a tripod..

what the heck?

I think I need glasses, I maybe have astigmatism...

Did anyone else have this problem but then got glasses and it fixed it?

My cheaper lenses don't do so great on autofocus at night,

but thanks.

have you tried adjusting the diopeter on the eye piece?

Do you notice vision problems anywhere else?

Does the 300D have an autofocus assist light? If not, is there a flash that does? (my sb-800 for my Nikon does)

no

yes, at night things appear a little blurry, like at the movie theater, I didn't notice that the images were a little soft until I tried on my girlfriend's glasses.

I think so but I never use the flash.

I've got an astigmatism and I'm starting to notice in more and more....especially where photography is concerned. It's mainly apparent when I'm doing things like macro work that requires me to use manual focus. I think I've got it set up *just* right...until I look at the image on my computer.

I think I'm going to start wearing my glasses when I do manual focus shots. Either that, or I'm gonna have to consider contacts :-)

astigmatism will never trick you into seeing a blurry shot sharp. What you see will ALWAYS be blurry, even at its best.

you need to send your eye to have it cleaned and the bad sensors mapped.
maybe get a pair of new lens too
